The value of Work experience
With the growing world population, more and more young adults are having to compete with each other to stand out towards their employers. Though good grades and achievements are essential to standing out, some employers who have had candidates who have had first hand experience in their field of work find that it can help.
What I’ve gained from my Experience
During my weeks of work experience I have learned many key skills and techniques that I will be able to apply towards my studies. These skills will allow me to become more proficient and produce higher quality work. I have also learned how to manage my time more effectively and have become more independent!
What skills have I learned and how does this apply to school?
- Research Techniques – With the many websites that I have examined and analysed over the past few weeks I have been able to find out what forms of research have worked for me. I think I have become a bit better at recognising trends and identifying links between key pieces of information which will surely help during my studies.
- The real life working day – I know now how the day of work progresses as time goes on and how it is structured. Though I greatly appreciate the fact that my supervisor and colleagues didn’t pressure me with deadlines and let me work at my own pace to understand the more difficult concepts during the time I was learning.
- How the Digital Market works – Through the several courses of lessons I have researched and studied I now have a solid understanding of how the Digital Market works and what key aspects or attributes to focus on in order to become more successful. Finding out how to research is especially important as I now have an idea of how to research websites which will help with my EPQ topic research on the relationship between China and North Korea!
- Blogging – I feel like Blogging has helped out a ton as I know how websites are able to produce high quality content and how to recognise a good website from a bad one. This has also helped me with my writing as I know I should focus on making my points interesting, short and concise (probably the opposite of what I’m doing now?) but I understand it’s importance.
- They are always willing to listen to you – This is going back to my timidness, but the people here are really nice and will always lend a hand if they can. I always thought that the office environment was very formal and serious but I have come to learn that it is just a misconception I had. This could range from help with the work I was doing or the simple things such as getting reminded to take a lunch break (yes this actually happened) but 07 Heaven’s team are full of people who make you feel right at home and let you take as much time as you need to settle in.
My Conclusion
I greatly appreciate the time the team has taken out of their schedules to allow me to have had an awesome time at work experience! This has helped me clearly understand of what kind of work Digital Marketing consists of and will definitely help with the future decisions I make when I leave education. It has been a priceless experience and will help me adapt better to the working industry and help me become a more Independent adult.
Anyone interested in Digital Marketing work experience, I would greatly recommend 07 Heaven as they will take their time and will offer their aid when you need it. They are friendly and welcoming so don’t be scared to talk to them as they will listen try to help you if then can!
