Having recently graduated from University and having had all of my previous experience, both academically and within the workplace be set around marketing, starting an 8 week sales course seemed like a great new skill to learn, and most definitely a challenge!
The very first thing that stood out to me as I sat down at my computer and entered the virtual meeting room, was immediately not only how much I could also learn from Dan, but from the other lions as well. We all introduced ourselves and everyone had a different background and something new that they could contribute to the discussion. To keep us motivated throughout the course we were asked to create a vision board. This was to include all of the things that keep us motivated to achieve the very best in the tasks we set, and within ourselves. When calling we were told to have the vision board handy so that if we ever felt like it was becoming a bit too much, or felt we were “too busy”, this vision board would soon set us straight.
The boot camp most definitely strips away any fear or nerves you have about putting your sales techniques out there, as you are buddied up to practise how to put the inbound sales method to the test. Then throughout the weeks we completed role plays which tackled completely different briefs and forced you out of your comfort zone, in order to really perfect your calling strategy. The feedback and suggestions given by both Dan and the other lions were invaluable to boosting confidence, and highlighting how to improve.
The past eight weeks have been completely revolutionary for me, as I have been able to couple both my marketing background with my new found sales skills to really push my agency further, and to truly help our clients with the services that are most applicable to them.
I’d like to say a huge thank you to both Dan and my fellow lions, for brightening every Tuesday afternoon for the past two months, and for making sure I do the things that made me nervous! It has completely brought down all of the fears associated with calling, as you begin to learn that you’re helping, not selling.
