5 Business Printing Mistakes To Avoid

It’s easy to make mistakes when it comes to printing, especially for those who have not done it before. But, in this blog I will be discussing some of the main mistakes you cannot afford to make when printing.

Sacrificing Quality for Quantity

Quality is very important, whether it’s the most important factor when it comes to printing is your opinion. Personally, I would make it one of my top priorities so I can insure I don’t give a low-grade presentation of my business to the customers.

Tip: Consider speaking to someone directly involved in digital printing services to give you the best insight as to how to improve your quality.

Spelling Errors

Not getting the spelling right can cause as much damage to your message as picking a poor quality paper and design. Misspelled information is not taken lightly by people and will lead to them not trusting your services or product. On top of that, you would have to re-print so will add to costs again. It’s best to check properly the first time, avoid unnecessary reprinting and higher costs.

Tip: Try to go through the information yourself rather than relying on spell-checker to pick up on errors, as the correction may not fit the sentence it’s used for.

Selecting the Wrong Format for Images

Many people forget that some images are not for printing, so when they print their images off they end up with an image that’s unclear to see. This is a costly printing mistake. For instance, an image in the format of a .GIF will become a blurry print. You may be able to get away with it if the image used is small enough. However, it’s best that you do keep a standard practice for the future.

Tip: Sourcing the different types of images used or making your own is probably the best way to avoid a loss in quality when using pictures.

Not Understanding the Difference Between CYMK and RGB

For beginners understanding the basic terms and knowledge of printing is a probable must. RGB (red, green and blue) is the colour form used by mixing light and the colours together. The more light added to the image the lighter the colour will be. CYMK (cyan, magenta, yellow and black) is a colour system, which can mix different forms of ink together. The more ink that’s mixed the darker the colour will turn out. This is because in RGB mode, which uses light, tends to have a higher spectrum of colours to use than CYMK mode does. Therefore, the colours printed off whilst in the RGB mode will turn out different.

Not Including Guidelines

The use of guidelines throughout every type of printing you do will be important as it will give a professional representation to others. As well as this it will make you aware of how much spacing you have on your business card or leaflet. Overcrowding information is a big ‘no-no’ and the use of borderlines will help avoid these issues.
